Still another R.Ph. revealed an employer was willing to underwrite living expenses, lodging, and auto reimbursement. 2008, compared with only 81% last year. Among those respondents who expect their paycheck to grow this year, the average expected pay hike is 3.4%. Satisfaction index The money and perks may be good, but only 9% of respondents reported that they are extremely satisfied with their current positions, 31% are very satisfied, 41% are satisfied, 17% revealed that they are somewhat dissatisfied, and 2% admitted they are extremely dissatisfied. Show me the money While the economy played a dirty trick on most employees’ wallets, 2007 turned out to be a very good year as far as pay raises for R.Ph.s. Eighty-eight percent of respondents said they received the good news that their pay envelopes were getting fatter. Among those who received raises, 85% received one raise, 14% garnered two raises, and 1% hauled in three or more raises. The average raise was 3.9%. For those who knew only the dollar and not the percent amount, the average dollar amount received was $3,560. More pharmacists anticipate receiving a raise this year, as 90% of our respondents expect to get a hike in Regional differences An examination of the data by region of the country reveals that, in terms of total compensation, pharmacists who practice in suburban communities had the highest income ($108,085) and those in rural communities drew the lowest pay ($106,045). Pharmacists in the Southwest cashed the biggest paychecks ($112,200) and pharmacists in the Midwest took home the smallest pay stubs ($105,486).
