The agency said these two types of HPV cause 70 percent of cervical cancers and also cause some vulvar and vaginal cancers. “There is now strong evidence showing that this vaccine can help prevent vulvar and vaginal cancers due to the same viruses for which it also helps protect against cervical cancers,” said Jesse Goodman, director of the FDA’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research. said David Klaum, senior vice president and general manager of Fougera. “With each product approval, Fougera reaffirms its commitment to providing safe, effective and affordable options to health care providers and their patients.” Fougera is a division of Nycomed US Inc. Longs rebuffs unsolicited Walgreens bid was getting generators into that area because there was no electricity for quite a while,” Polzin said. “Reopening was important because there were a lot of people who did not evacuate Galveston. So the first responders and the residents needed access to basic medical supplies and food.” Longs Drugs declined an unsolicited $3 billion purchase offer from Walgreens to purchase Longs. Instead, the California-based chain of 521 stores plans to continue to move forward with an agreement to sell to CVS Caremark. On Sept. 12, Walgreens announced that it had sent Longs an unsolicited Tom Ryan, nonbinding expression of in- CVS Chief Executive terest, offering $71.50 a share, which was about $3.50 per share more than the CVS offer. Before rejecting the Walgreens offer, the Longs board of directors determined that Walgreens did not propose to accept regulatory risks and assumed Walgreens reopens central location in hurricanestricken Galveston While emergency officials scrambled to restore power to homes and businesses throughout the hurricane-ravaged Galveston, Texas, area, Walgreens reopened its store in the midst of the island to provide much-needed supplies and pharmacy services. “We’re very happy that we could reopen this store at Hurricane Ike’s Ground Zero less than a week after the storm hit,” Robert Jenkins, a Walgreens district manager, said. Company spokesman Michael Polzin said the chain brought in workers from throughout the region to repair damage and remove water. “One of the biggest issues FDA approves clotrimazole cream The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved clotrimazole cream USP 1 percent — a generic formulation that’s similar to Taro’s Referenced Listed Drug (RLD). The generic will be available in 15 g tubes, 30 g tubes, and 45 g tubes (NDC # 0168-0133-46). It is used to relieve skin itching or burning. “The approval of clotrimazole cream is another illustration of Fougera’s robust product pipeline,” EDITORIAL ADVISORY BOARD MEMBERS Philip P.
