Quechee Gorge is just a short trip over the White River into Vermont. The views and the gorge in this day-hike area are “fantabulous.” Every Father’s Day weekend, Quechee also hosts one of the more interesting hot air balloon festivals in the nation. While not as large as the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta®, The Quechee Balloon Festival & Craft Fair is big enough to be spectacular and small enough to feel like its own little entity. I imagine the scenery in the area makes the balloon rides one of a kind. You could spend a whole summer hiking around this region and not see it all. Discovering wildlife If you’ve always wanted to see a moose, just head about 3 hours north to Pittsburg, New Hampshire, also known as Moose Alley. Go in July or August and you won’t be disappointed.
