Generally, she either heads home to Manitou Springs, Colorado—where both her 25-year-old daughter, Angie, and her retired mother, Joyce, live—or she goes abroad. “For my next assignment, I’m thinking about going to North Carolina or back to South Carolina,” she reports. “It will be near Christmas, and I’d love to see Charleston during the holiday season.” When asked if she’d recommend a mobile career to other healthcare professionals, she answers with an emphatic Yes. “It has increased my learning curve and made me more open-minded,” Kay reveals. “I see a wider variety of patients, too, and taking in a variety of cultural experiences has been incredibly rewarding.” HT Laura Gater is a freelance writer based in Columbia City, Indiana.
