Top Nurse Travel Company Allied Corner Radiologic Technologists ARRT, ASRT join forces for online education in digital imaging A new online educational program, sponsored by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, aims to give registered radiologic technologists and radiologic science students a solid understanding of the technology and application behind digital imaging systems. ODIA, the Online Digital Imaging Academy, which debuted in October, was developed for ARRT by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists Education and Research Foundation. ODIA subject matter includes image capture, display, processing, and analysis; picture archiving and communication systems; patient exposure and radiation safety; and quality assurance. Participants who complete all 11 modules and pass the accompanying quizzes earn 15 Category A CE credits and an ODIA diploma. CE credits may also be earned and reported by module; each is approved for between one and two credits. Participants may start with any module of interest and complete as many as they wish. Sonographers SDMS announces momentous achievement for sonography education The Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography recently announced its completion of the National Education Curriculum (NEC) for Sonography (http://jrcdms.org/nec.htm). This collaborative project spanned 3 years and included representatives from several sonography and medical stakeholder organizations. The event will fill a long-awaited need for a true consensus-based curriculum to be used in the education of future sonographers. “Working on a national curriculum for sonography was an honor for all who were involved in the process, because we knew we had an opportunity to make history within and for our profession,” said Charlotte Henningsen, MS, RT(R), RDMS, RVT, FSDMS, chair of the NEC Task Force since its formation in 2005. “When you have 18 separate organizations each representing their own constituencies, and their respective interests, who can agree to endorse and/or support the work product, you know you have done something special.” HT Source: Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
