When candidates register with our company, they are asked to check off on a list the skills and procedures they are comfortable with, when they last performed them, and how many they have performed within the last 24 months. As recruiters, we match the job order with a skill sheet to determine whether there is a good synergy between what the position requires and the comfort and skill levels of the physician or non-physician provider.” If it seems like a good fit, say insiders, take the time to ask a few questions. “Inquire as to whether anyone has been placed at this facility before, the track record the company has with the institution, why the vacancy exists, and whether or not other locum tenens providers have had good experiences there,” offers Mr. Brandner. “If you would like to speak with a candidate who has provided services at the healthcare organization previously, staffing company representatives are generally happy to facilitate SEPTEMBER 2008 LocumLife 19
