Speaking to the Financial Times last week, Richard Girling, global co-head of healthcare at Merrill Lynch, said: “There are multi-layers of M&A going on at the moment as the Big Pharma companies look for ways in which to get their share prices up.” With smaller biotech companies facing possible financial hardship in the next couple of hears, they could become easy prey for the big players set on more aggressive acquisition policies.
