Pharmaceutical Executive Digest Europe - February 18, 2009 - (Page 15) ON THE MOVE Biofrontera Pharma GmbH (Germany), a subsidiary of Biofrontera AG, has appointed Anja Schürmann as director of marketing and sales and Sabrina Narayanan as medical-scientific expert, supporting the sales force. Dr Schürmann comes from Galderma Laboratorium GmbH, where she was responsible for over-the-counter products. Dr Narayanan, also from Galderma, will support the sales force in the field of medicine and science. Biofrontera specialises in the development of pharmaceutical products in the area of dermatology. Life science consultancy Xiota (UK) has appointed Duncan McLaughlin to its international team with responsibility for Central and Eastern Europe. Duncan joins Xiota from CEE Business Development, a consultancy business, which he established himself in 1999 and which provided strategic and operational support to the industry in Central and Eastern Europe. Mr McLaughlin has worked for pharma companies such as Roche Consumer Health, Sterling Health/ SmithKline Beecham, Wellcome Consumer Health and Revlon Healthcare. At Roche Consumer Health, he was responsible for the development of their operations in Central & Eastern Europe. Astellas Pharma Europe, the European subsidiary of Tokyo-based Astellas Pharma, has appointed Kay Spiller as vice president of marketing, Europe. Ms Spiller will manage Astellas’ European brand strategy in the urology, transplant, dermatology and anti-infective areas of the business. She served as European brand manager with Yamanouchi from 2003, before the company merged with Fujisawa to form Astellas in 2005. Asterand plc (UK), a provider of human tissue and services to pharmaceutical companies engaged in drug discovery research, has appointed John Stchur to the board as an executive director. Mr. Stchur will continue as the company’s chief financial officer. SCM Pharma (UK) has appointed Jennifer Watson as quality assurance manager, and Joanne Anderson and Adam Walker as account managers. The trio joins SCM Pharma, formerly Specials Clinical Manufacturing, following the recent demerger from sister company, the Specials Laboratory.
