Under the agreement, Gedeon Richter will market and distribute HRA Pharma’s emergency contraceptive, ella, in Central Eastern Europe (CEE) and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), enabling women in these areas to have greater control over their own contraception. Under the terms of the agreement, the contraceptive will be marketed and distributed in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia and Slovakia and the twelve CIS nations: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine. Two Phase III trials will investigate riociguat in patients with both chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Riociguat is the first member of a new class of therapeutics stimulating the enzyme soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC). Bayer reported that it showed promising Phase II results by significantly improving exercise capacity and hemodynamic parameters such as pulmonary vascular resistance, cardiac output and pulmonary arterial pressure compared to baseline values.
