Pharmaceutical Executive Digest Europe - March 11, 2009 - (Page 14) ON THE MOVE AstraZeneca has announced that Håkan Mogren, non-executive deputy chairman of AstraZeneca PLC, will retire from the Board at the close of the company’s AGM on 30 April 2009. Louis Schweitzer, chairman of AstraZeneca PLC, said: “As chief executive officer of Astra AB, and subsequently deputy chairman of AstraZeneca, Håkan has made an excellent contribution to our business. He was instrumental in the formation of AstraZeneca and has brought a wealth of experience and sound judgement to our Board decisions. His fellow directors and I thank him for his distinguished contribution to the company over two decades and wish him a long and very happy retirement.” Chiltern, the UK based global clinical research organisation, has appointed Ms Jane Turner to the post of director, Late Phase, Europe. Ms. Turner has previously held executive positions in both CRO and pharmaceutical companies, enabling her to acquire considerable knowledge of the operational side of management in both industries. She will be based at Chiltern’s global headquarters in Slough. Bristol-Myers Squibb’s chief operating officer Lamberto Andreotti will also serve as president and join the board as part of executive-suite changes at the company. The 58-year-old, along with chief financial officer Jean-Marc Huet and chief scientific officer Elliott Sigal, will join chairman and chief executive James M. Cornelius on the company’s newly formed executive committee. Andreotti will continue to lead global pharmaceuticals, technical operations and global marketing while adding oversight of information-management. In addition, Huet expand his duties to oversee the areas of strategy and productivity. Alliance Pharma, the speciality pharmaceutical company, has announced that Thomas Theodore Casdagli, a partner of MVM Life Science Partners LLP, has today been appointed to the Board of the company. On 27 February 2009 MVM acquired a 9.3% shareholding in Alliance Pharma. Mr Casdagli, has been an active investor in life sciences since joining MVM in 2002. Before joining MVM, he worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant.
