Kuner joined Altana Pharma in 2001 as senior legal counsel. When Nycomed acquired Altana Pharma, he was appointed senior vice president & general counsel, reporting to chief executive officer Håkan Björklund. Novo Nordisk has appointed Pamela Harris as vice president for Diabetes Sales, Managed Care and Government Accounts. Harris, who, since 2005, shared responsibility for managing the diabetes field force, will assume an expanded role of leading the company’s 2000 person field organisation of representatives and managed market account executives. Harris joined Novo Nordisk in 2005 after leading one of the national sales teams at Novartis Pharmaceuticals. In her 28 years in the pharmaceutical industry, she has held various positions in sales leadership roles, training, and marketing. ClinPhone has appointed Paula McHale as director of Product Management, Data Management Solutions. Paula will play an integral role in furthering the strategic development of ClinPhone’s integrated solutions and the integration of its EDC and Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS). Paula has over 20 years of clinical and technology experience in healthcare and drug development, including 15 years in a CRO environment. Prior to joining ClinPhone, Paula served as the worldwide director, EDC Solutions at PAREXEL International Corp. AM-Pharma BV (the Netherlands) has appointed Jacques Arend MD as vice president of Clinical Development. Dr Arend’s previous work experience includes clinical development positions at SmithKline Beecham, Yamanouchi, Novo Nordisk, Grünenthal, and most recently at Kendle, where he was the medical director for the Phase I and Clinical Pharmacology Unit. Dr Arend replaces Chief Medical Officer Luiz Porto MD, who will remain involved with AMPharma as clinical regulatory consultant. Cynthia Marina Giuliani has joined MolMed (Italy) as director of human resources. She has 20 years’ experience in human resources, gained in multinational and biotech companies such as Roche and Liebert Hiross, and most recently in BioXell. Eurand NV has announced two appointments to its Research and Development and Medical Affairs management team. Dr John Caminis, MD joins Eurand Pharmaceuticals, Inc as vice president, Medical Affairs and Clinical Development. He will be responsible for Eurand’s clinical development programmes for the US and will support the commercial launch of Eurand’s lead product candidate, Zentase. Dr Marco Sardina, MD, PhD joins Eurand, SpA as director, Medical Affairs and Clinical Development, Europe. He will be responsible for the continued development of Eurand’s drug conjugation technology, focused on developing the company’s products based on this novel technology through preclinical and Phase I studies. He will also support Eurand’s European Research and Development team in relation to certain of the company’s clinical development programmes. Jean-Philippe Courtois has joined AstraZeneca’s board as a nonexecutive director. Immediately prior to joining AstraZeneca, M Courtois was president of Microsoft International, a territory that spans 100 subsidiaries operating in over 240 countries outside the United States and Canada, and a senior vice president of Microsoft Corporation. Richard J. Wallace has joined the board of Bridgehead International (UK) as a nonexecutive director. This follows 15 years at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), where Mr Wallace was most recently senior vice president of Global Product Strategy, accountable for Global Health Outcomes, Scientific Communications, Global Commercial Strategy and Business & Commercial Analysis. He also served as a member of its Research and Development Executive, Commercial Operations Committee, Product Management Board and Scientific Advisory Board. Movianto has announced the appointment of David Perfrement as its new head of Sales and Marketing in the UK.
