Pharmaceutical Executive Europe - September 2008 - (Page 3) EDITORIAL ADVISORY BOARD Pharmaceutical Executive Europe’s Editorial Advisory Board (EAB) is a distinguished group of specialists who represent various facets of the pharmaceutical industry. EAB members suggest article subjects relevant to the industry, review article manuscripts, participate in events and answer questions as they arise. Pharmaceutical Executive Advancing business leadership A Broader Canvas O ne of the great things about digital publishing is not only that it’s constantly evolving, but that it can respond smoothly and almost instantaneously to consumer demands and new possibilities. This month sees our response to some of the feedback we’ve been getting about the look and ‘feel’ of the Pharm Exec Europe digimag. As you can already see, this new, easier-to-read, easier-to-navigate version displays our news and features in a format that is more suited to your desktop or laptop screen. The idea is to enable you to access the information you need much more painlessly. The magazine can still be printed and forwarded as before, so I hope you find it serves your needs even more effectively than previous incarnations of PEE. I’d like to say I’m waving a tearful goodbye to the summer, but as you’ll know if you’ve spent time in the UK over the last three months, we haven’t had one. Even so, autumn gloomily arrived with the news that UCB is cutting 2000 jobs from its global workforce in a ‘restructuring’ exercise. The story is sadly symptomatic of where we are in pharma at the moment and also a sad reflection of what’s happening in the world economy. But before you cry yourselves to sleep, the articles that follow provide rays of hope by looking at the bigger picture. The growing confidence of the smallerto-medium-sized pharma, specialty and biotech market continues apace and, as our cover story interviewee Per Kogut explains, the world of pharma IT looks pretty rosy too. Pharmaceutical Executive Europe provides industry intelligence so managers in the European pharmaceutical community can advance their business, management and marketing practices to gain competitive advantage. PEE interprets the current and future challenges the industry faces and enables pharmaceutical professionals to overcome them with cost-effective, time-saving solutions.
