non-specific to particular cells; they kill other cells too, such as intestinal cells and hair follicles. With radiopeptides you can target a specific disease through molecules that enter the cell. In this sense, there has been a lot of investment in bio-healthcare, and that contributes towards our 10-year goal. We are proud that we created a family company that is now a partner with a global company. We would like to be a trademark in the field of nuclear medicine and radiotherapy. In the next five years we estimate to have a $100 million turnover. If you were to look at acquisitions, would it be here in the Turkish market or would you go abroad? We would want to go abroad and to use the experience we have gained here to grow. When you go overseas, it is a good market and it is very competitive. But we find that when we go abroad from the Turkish business market, we are respected. American companies always contact us when they come to this region, sometimes bringing other companies with them. We have a good relationship with Middle Eastern and other countries. It is difficult to penetrate the European market as each country has its own legislation. What do you see as the main challenges in reaching your targets? The work economy is very important and inflation can be a challenge. We have strong technology and hope that we can fight competition and that it won’t be difficult to meet our targets. We have more flexibility than big companies. We have a very good logistic team and distribution, as well as good connections and links. Human resources can be challenging, but our companies are seen as good employers and we sometimes train staff from other companies. In addition, we have good relationships with universities. Koral Embil, vice president, Scientific Affairs & Business Development, Embil Pharmaceutical. Your product portfolio has evolved greatly over time. What therapeutic areas are you focusing on today? At the moment, our main areas of interest are gynaecology, dermatology and topical pain management — painkillers, or non-steroid, antiinflammatory drugs that are used topically. And these are the initial areas that we have been successful in and upon which we have concentrated. Our manufacturing facility focuses mainly on these types of semi-solid products that comprise suppositories, creams, gels and so forth. Hence, we don’t manufacture tablets even though we do have a number of tablets in solid dosage forms, but they are contractmanufactured for us. In three or four years time, you will move out of your production facilities in Bomonti and into a new complex that will increase your capacity 10fold, to 40 million units. What expansion opportunities will the new site open up? Our biggest weakness was that we didn't have a production facility that could supply our products in terms of capacity and quality. In addition to approval by the Turkish Ministry of Health, we expect our new plant to be FDA- and EUapproved. In fact, that is the prerequisite we agreed upon with the architects. We are working with a specialized architectural group of international reputation who will get FDA approval for us before we start building.
