In 2004, we inaugurated our Rio Indio Lodge at San Juan del Norte, Nicaragua. Our ecolodge, then began to take up most of our business; so in 2005 we took off the second floor of the houseboat and it made its last cruise up the San Juan and Sarapiquí Rivers. It took two days and all the town helped to load the houseboat on a low bay. It took another 5 days, a police escort, and a run from angry towns people as we snapped low electrical cables on our way to Lake Arenal in Central Costa Rica. Lake Arenal is a natural Lake, dammed up to make Costa Ricans largest hydroelectric reservoir. The electric company, national parks and community protect this area and its wild life. The 98 Km of shore line are mostly a wildlife and forest reserve. But most impressive is Arenal Volcano with its eruptions of melted rock and lava on the south east side of the Lake.
