Cold Form Metal Framing Catalog - (Page 39) HEADER CONNECTIONS Built-Up Jamb BACK TO BACK HEADER Built Up Jamb or HDS JamB The Back to Back Header consists of two C-studs placed with their webs together creating an “I” section. The configuration allows both studs to work together to support load, and web stiffeners can be easily installed when required. Support can be provided with either Built-up jambs or HDS jambs. • Available in 3½” to 12” depths. • Can be installed after fabrication. • Easily insulated after installation. WINDOW/DOOR HEADERS HEADER ATTACHMENT METHOD The connection at the jamb is made using Easy Clip™ support clips. Jack studs can be added under header for additional support. HDS Jamb BUILT-UP LAY IN HEADER Built Up Jamb or HDS JamB The Built-Up Lay In Header is commonly used on non-load bearing walls, and when wide window or door openings require a stronger member to frame out the opening. This material can be designed to support the weight of the wall above the opening as well as the wind load on the surface of the wall. Built-Up Jamb • Used on non-load bearing walls. • Used on wide window and door openings. • Carries the load in two directions. • Must be insulated at time of fabrication.
