Represents company at regulatory hearings and on regulatory and industry committees. • Develop and maintain a distribution system integrity management program to provide safe, environmentally responsible and reliable service and in compliance with the requirements of applicable standards and regulations in Canada (CSA Z662 and as prescribed by the provincial and federal regulatory authorities—National Energy Board, Technical Standards and Safety Authority, New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board, and the Regie du Batiment du Quebec) and the United States (U.S. Federal Regulation 49-192 and Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration). • Execute the distribution system integrity management plan to measure, document and report on the integrity of the low-stress distribution mains, services, stations and meter sets. • Direct the review and assessment of inspection, investigations and surveys completed by others. • Direct the execution of special inspections, investigations and surveys to validate and grade the findings of routine programs completed by others. • Direct the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies and programs. • Direct the development of new policies, procedures and processes to mitigate risk and ensure compliance. • Ensure that robust IT systems and databases are used to house distribution system integrity data, results and reports. • Represent, testify and make commitments on behalf of the company on technical matters at hearings before the Ontario and National energy boards and other similar tribunals. • Direct the activities of the department staff by assigning responsibilities, monitoring project progress and approving actions and initiatives. • Perform a key role in the evaluation, selection and training of new staff members. This is to provide qualified, competent personnel to meet the growing needs of the company and its customers. • Develop business relationships with consulting engineers and similar to have outside resources available to provide technical expertise on specific engineering matters. • Promote and develop long-term relationships with customers, contractors, gas-distribution industry members, manufacturers and suppliers to facilitate potential business partnerships and alliances. • Develop strong personal relationships within the oil and gas industry, including regulatory organizations. Participate in industry forums and committees, such as the CSA Z662 Oil and Gas Pipeline Standard Committee, and thereby influence external technical and operational decisions in the interest of the public and the company and its customers.
