DIGEST efficiency and reduce pollution. A total of 125 companies and groups were honored. GE’s 5-Series turbine, shown above, has been sold to companies in the United States, including Golden Spread Electric Cooperative. The 7-Series, which is currently the top of the line, has, to date, only been sold to companies in Japan. with two 7-Series turbines can lower carbon emissions by 56,000 metric tons a year compared to existing technology, the company says. In terms of agility, the enhanced 5-Series can start up in 33 minutes, and the 7-Series in less than 30 minutes. A plant based on the 7-Series can also ramp down to 105 MW—about 14 percent of maximum load of 750 MW—and then ramp back up by 100 MW a minute. GE says this will promote the integration of renewables into the power grid. GE achieves this flexibility through careful control of clearances between stationary and moving parts in the turbine. “Most of the plants that will use the FlexEfficiency 60 portfolio are in combined-cycle applications with a heat-recovery steam generator and steam turbine,” Jim Donohue, marketing manager of thermal products for GE Power & Water, explained to American Gas. “We’ve designed the turbines to allow for the rapid changes in temperature and pressure these components see.” Plant operators simply press a button to ramp up or down; the turbine’s control system man- Anheuser-Busch distributor Eagle Distributing of Shreveport, La., has signed an agreement to lease 23 CNG tractors from Ryder System, replacing almost its entire diesel-powered delivery fleet. Eagle expects the CNG vehicles will curb its greenhouse gas emissions by about 24 percent and cut fuel costs. The company also is changing smaller fleet vehicles to CNG. “We are committed and will continue to change out more vehicles this year and in the years to come until all our vehicles are converted to CNG,” said Doug Jones, operations manager for Eagle, in a news release. It covers proving of meters by using Critical Flow Venturi Nozzle (CFVN) and/or other Master Meters along with the calibration procedures of Master Meters. Appendices cover a detailed discussion on uncertainty analyses and examples of calculation. For quantity discounts, please contact Techstreet, 1-800-699-9277, 1-734-780-8000.
