WeLD CoUnTY, Co -students in two colorado school districts headed back to class this fall in new yellow buses sporting bright green "Powered by cnG" stickers, thanks to Houston-based noble energy inc., a global energy giant working in the booming oil and gas fields north of Denver. The Weld county school District, which serves 2,000 students, received five buses via a grant from noble. The 20,000-student Greeley-evans school District in Weld county received two cnG-powered buses. The initiative also includes a publicly accessible cnG fueling station. The buses, which replace aging 12 AmericAn GAs november 2013 vehicles, are the first step in a five-year, $5 million commitment from noble energy made to Weld county schools, noble spokesman Jon ekstrom told American Gas. "moving forward, many students will ride to and from class on buses powered by abundant and affordable American-made fuel. cnG is reliable and clean, which means that students and parents can count on environmentally friendly, dependable transportation to school." noble energy expects to have a total of 300 oil and gas wells in the Denver-Julesburg basin by the end of this year, many of which are in Weld county. -Gary James
