lapsed permit to export LNG from its Kenai LNG plant in Alaska. The company had not exported LNG from the facility since the fall of 2012, and its most recent permit expired in 2013. The new permit will allow ConocoPhillips to export up to 40 Bcf during the next two years. In the past, most of the Kenai facility's LNG exports went to Japan. The Kenai plant began operations in 1969 and until 2012 was the only terminal in the U.S. authorized to export LNG. Twenty-two other applications for LNG export facilities are still being considered by DOE, according to the American Petroleum Institute. Still in line are 10 projects in Louisiana, seven in Texas, one in Oregon, one each in Georgia and Mississippi, and two in the Gulf of Mexico-one south of Cameron Parish, La., and the other south of Pascagoula, Miss. -Gary James TeXaS Run for the Border Two pipeline projects to Mexico clear regulatory hurdles DALLAS, TX -Two proposed pipelines to ship natural gas from Texas and Arizona to Mexico are closer to reality. The U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has approved a plan by Dallas-based Energy Transfer Partners to construct a pipeline from Hidalgo County, Texas, to Reynosa, Mexico. The 23-mile, 24-inch-diameter pipeline will connect into the Pemex network on the Mexican side of the border and supply primarily Texas-sourced gas to power plants and industrial users, Reuters reported. The pipeline is expected to begin exports of 140 Mmcf/d by the end of the year.
