Newly Revamped AIANYS Design Awards Program!
AIA New York State has recognized outstanding works of architecture through the annual Design Awards Program since 1968. These awards honor works of architecture located anywhere in the world by AIA New York State members and works of architecture located only in New York State by other New York State registered architects completed since January 1, 2007. AIANYS is currently calling for entries for the 2012 Design Awards. A Call for Entries brochure which includes the submission guidelines, registration form, checklist and photo release form was mailed out in early April. Go to www.aianys.org for more information. Several changes have been made to the program for 2012 including a new digital submission system, new categories and a chapter submission program! The registration form and fee is due to AIANYS by May 14, 2012 (must be registered online by this date). Portfolios, checklists and photo releases are due by June 8, 2012. This year all Design Awards must be submitted digitally. The Design Award Jury will meet in June to decide the winners and the recipients will be notified soon after. Several new categories have been added or revised. The Residential category now has 3 sub-categories: Single Family Detached, under 2,500 square feet; Single Family Detached, 2,500 square feet and over or Multi-Family, Multiple Dwellings. New categories are Pro Bono Projects and Sole Practitioner. Adaptive Reuse and Historic Preservation have been combined into one category. Also new this year is all Chapters will be asked to submit two local winners to AIANYS for consideration by the jury. The Chapter may choose from their 2011 or 2012 programs. While there will be no charge for the submittals, they will be required to follow the same guidelines as any other entry. All AIANYS Design Award recipients will prepare a design board for display during the AIANYS Convention in Saratoga Springs. All of the AIANYS Design Awards will be presented at the President’s Reception, Dinner and Design Awards Presentation on September 28, 2012 at the Hilton Hotel in Saratoga Springs. For questions, contact Georgi Ann Bailey, Hon. AIANYS, Director of Programs and Operations at email@example.com.
