Airbrush Technique Issue 12 - (Page 11) Moving onto the skirt now I mask off her upper body and legs leaving the skirt area exposed. I apply light purple followed by base white for the lace and highlighted areas. This kind of detail works calls for over reduced paint, low air pressure and an airbrush made for fine detail work. After pulling all the masking it’s time to put the finishing touch up details to my pin up. While finishing off the hair and adding the lollypop I use Glad Press N Seal to mask off the rest of the pin up. Fine details to her hair and lollypop are added using a very small fine art paintbrush. To finish off the graphics I again use transfer tape drawing my graphics directly on the tape and cutting them out. This simple and easy technique you help you render nice even, symmetrical graphics no fuss, no muss. Before applying clear coat make sure to gently wipe the art work with pre cleaner and water as this will simulate what you’ll see once the clear coat is applied. This will allow you to correct any imperfections you see before a final clear coat is applied and well worth the effort. And lastly always sign your work. This is a picture of the project after clear coat has been applied and its been polished. To accomplish a glass like finish I use PPG 2021 clear coat. After allowing it time to dry I sand it with wet dry sand paper 1000 grit followed by 1500 grit then use a wool pad, hard sponge, medium sponge and finally a polishing sponge.
