Airbrush Technique Issue 12 - (Page 20) I requested Patrick do a little How To article for those readers who are fairly new to airbrushing and I believe he did a bang up job. Thank you Patrick for all your help and support. This how to will show you how create a fur effect easily. With this technique and the homemade stencil you will be able to create, fur, feathers, hair, etc. fast and easy. You will always have the stencils ready to help you in many situations. To build your hair stencils, you have to cut two circles out of thin cardboard. Find different kind of hair (brushes, real hair, etc ) to use in your stencil. Put a paper circle on the table and put some glue all over the first circle and add the hair to different positions around the circle. Put some glue on the second circle and press it over the first one. After giving it time to dry you have a round stencil with various hair ready to use over and over again. Make different stencils some with straight hair, curly hair, hard one, and flexible one. If you many different stencils ready to use, the easier it will be to find the right solution to solve all sorts of situations dealing with rendering hair, fur. Required materials: Airbrush, Black paint, card board, glue, hair of verus types First I spray a very thin black all around the circle drawn on the painting surface with pencil. I only use the top hair of the stencil, the further you keep the hair off from the surface more of a blurred affect you will get. Here the result of the first stage. I continue by using the same technique with another layer half over the first one. With a round stencil I spray a thin black to outline which will serve as the eyes
