Airbrush Technique Issue 21 - (Page 8) Hi my name is Lorin Gipe, I am 54 years young and I live in Holt, Michigan. I have always been in the arts from pencil drawing to oils. About 3 years ago I decided I wanted to give airbrushing a try, while doing some research online I found Airbrush Technique.com. This forum has become like family to me, with all the help from its membership and Airbrush Technique Magazine I have gained the necessary skills to operate this Magic Tool, not to mention the overwhelming friendships I have made. In this project I will be painting a 72” lumberjack saw using an Infinity 2 in 1 airbrush and Createx paints. Before I get started on this project, I have to send a BIG thank you to Deb Smith, an ABT member who so graciously donated the 72” saw blade for this project. THANKS Deb. In this picture I show the blade prepped for the artwork, during the prep stage I sanded the blade with an orbital sander and 150 grit paper to remove any old surface rust, then the entire blade was wiped with a rag soaked in Denatured alcohol. Make sure you wear protective gloves while doing this step as the alcohol can easily be absorbed into the skin and cause you some damage. This painting will be done from my minds eye so I will be building the scale of the painting as I go. Here I have sprayed Light Blue for the background sky, I will come back in later and add some clouds. Using a mixture of 20 drops white / 5 drops medium gray I start the formation of the mountains, no need at this point to get to detailed as I am still developing the scale of the painting. Adjustments and details will come later. Here I have added some light green to create what will be the tree line for the painting. Also added light blue to the bottom of the saw for the waterline of the lake. Remember I am still building the scale of the painting, details to follow. http://www.airbrushtechnique.com http://www.airbrushtechnique.com
