Airbrush Technique Issue 21

At this point I will start adding some detail into the mountains, I have established that the light source will be from the left side of this painting. Using a mixture of 20 drops of light blue / 2 drops medium gray I start to shadow the right hand side of the mountains, I then come back in with some over reduced white and using small dagger strokes I create the snow caps on the left hand side. While I have the over reduced white in my airbrush, I spray a few wispy clouds. This will pretty much complete the background; some minor adjustments may be needed later. Ok get ready to make some dagger strokes, mixing 20 drops forest green / 1 drop black I start painting the pines, all DAGGER strokes. These trees are all made using the green/black mixture hitting some areas harder than others creating the depth. After all the trees are done I use a little light brown and dark brown to add some dimension to the ground. Here I have sprayed some Ultramarine Blue along the lakeshore to help with the depth of the water. Creating the reflection of the mountains in the lake, using the same mixture of 20 drops white / 5 drops medium gray I start forming the mountains in a mirror image of themselves, when I have the shape I want I start painting the details in over reduced white. Remember these do not have to be exactly as the mountains, you are only trying to create the illusion of reflection. It is important that the mountains reflections be completed first as I will be reflecting the trees next.
