Airbrush Technique Issue 22 - (Page 24) By using alternatively airbrush and cotton swab I continue to add details to the basket. With black I spray the hair by working very close to the surface with my airbrush, tight detail work is called for here. Here is a close up picture of the face I will now add more details to the eyes before I spray the basket shadow over the face. To bring out some highlights I use an easier to remove some of the paint to reveal the canvas color. With a home made stencil I quickly spray the foreground details of the painting. With thin black I spray the basket shadow projected over the face. I add a few details over the full painting and increase the contrast between the light and darker parts in the over all painting. Here is a picture of the completed painting. A portrait on canvas such as this can not be rushed it’s takes time to build the color up very slowly layer after layer, sometimes using an easer to bring back highlighted areas.
