Airbrush Technique Issue 22

Fellow artist lets talk about the difference between Hip Hop art and Urban art. Hip Hop art reflects Hip Hop and the things that revolve around music of that kind. Urban art reflects the art of the inner city and the people. Some say it’s the same, but you don’t need to understand Hip Hop to understand Urban art. You only need to understand the city life. Step 1) Some things you’ll need, some things you’ll use. You’ll need opaque black and white; transparent deep blue, brown, yellow, green, red, and a color I make that looks sky blue. I use Createx paints, eight Iwata eclipse HP-BCS guns for speed. I draw with a light brown color pencil, which seems to work out very well for most projects. To render the clouds I make a stencil and using that and my drawing will go about painting this t-shirt design. Step 2) Draw the image with a light, but easy to see color in the center of the t-shirt. Sense we want a nice clean looking final product I use tape as masking around the design. Step4) After you have a light shade of deep blue start the frame work of the buildings. Nothing hard just some block type shapes using deep blue. Step3) To start the painting I use deep blue to lightly outline the image so I can see where the paint should stop. When filling in the background, point your airbrush away from the main image, this will decrease overspray. Step 5) Take one side of the building and fill in and fade down, On the other side fade over to reveal a corner then fade down. Make some of the building lean, that’s the Urban way.
