Airbrush Technique Issue 22 - (Page 9) Next I start to straighten out the wrinkles that may occur while trying to wrap sticky vinyl around this egg! Sometimes I’m able to just pull the piece up, realign and reapply and sometimes I’m having to make cuts with an x-acto blade, very carefully, to the side of the wrinkle but do not do this on the surface. Unless you know your blade really well and how deep you cut into the vinyl. You really only have to score the vinyl and it will come a part easily. All lines and curves should realign smoothly without any signs of transitions or splits in the vinyl. Now I am ready for the first stages of airbrushing. First and most important make sure you wear a respirator during any airbrushing; it helps you sleep well at night!! Next I start to add drop shadows to the bottom edge of the design and a light top edge shadow so it will show the top edge after peeling the design, just enough so it shows but not to dark. Also I will add a bottom shadow, what I call a loose edge bevel, to the inside of the peeled design on top of the tank. I will do the same to the design on the side of the tank later. The top of the tank will be the first piece that will be completed.
