of Utah, spoke to what AISES has meant to
them, and how important continued
support for the organization is to all the
young people AISES touches.

When the Anniversary Gala performers - the
multi-Grammy-nominated Northern Cree Singers
- took the stage, the power of their music
captivated the audience. Everyone was caught up in
the spirit, prodigious talent, and humor of this
traditional Canadian Aboriginal group, which has
recorded 37 albums and counting. Northern Cree
live by the motto of their founders, Steve Wood
and his brothers Randy and Earl Wood: "If you
believe in yourself, who you are, where you come
from, your culture, and more importantly, your
language, it will take you to places you have never
even dreamed of."
The Northern Cree Singers also served as the
Host Drum for the AISES National Conference
Powwow, which followed the Anniversary Gala.

introduced the
evening's performers, the Northern
Cree Singers, she
elaborated on the message of the critical
importance of contributing to the AISES
mission. Baker-Demaray pointed out that
throughout the conference attendees had
heard multiple speakers say, "AISES changed
my life; AISES saved my life." "These words
resonate with everyone," she said. "AISES is
truly a one-of-a-kind experience that taps
into our ancient knowledge and takes us
into the future together." To continue that
journey, she encouraged attendees to pledge
$25 a month as a recurring donation.

#PledgeNativesinSTEM
AISES has organized a campaign to support
Natives in STEM. Together we can raise
awareness, facilitate dialogue around the
importance of STEM in Indian Country, and
gather commitment from partners to
support the improvement of STEM
education and opportunities for all.
