Only a couple of hours west of the Twin Cities on I-94, the Alexandria Lakes Area has a great location. You’ll like the environment. Our residents are friendly, the area is beautiful and there’s no rush hour. It makes living here more relaxed, and many would say more productive. Now home to over 35,000 people and over 1,000 growing businesses, the Alexandria Lakes Area continues to be one of Minnesota’s fastest growing regional centers. We have more than 50 doctors and four clinics in the Alexandria Lakes Area. Douglas County Hospital, rated in the top 100 hospitals nationally, is the regional medical facility for West Central Minnesota. In addition to 24-hour emergency services the hospital offers outpatient, operative and treatment facilities. Economic Development Our Lakes Area manufacturers and other major employers serve customers throughout the country and worldwide. School District 206 educates more than 4,000 students. In addition to private and public schools, we are home to the nationally acclaimed Alexandria Technical College.
