A: The President of Waffle House is an ATO from Georgia Tech who is a year younger than me. When I got out of the service and out of Harvard Business School, I came back to Atlanta. His father had founded Waffle House and was looking to grow the company and was hiring people. He asked me if I wanted to come and I finally said yes. HA TAU O M just seemed only natural to sign up for a program that would preserve the mechanism that did this for me. Q: Why did you get involved on the ATO Foundation Board of Governors? A: The fraternity needs great programs and we need chapters with foundation funds to support their activities. And we also need scholarships and the need for these funds is very important to get, and very important to our future. Q: Best thing about being ATO? A: The friendship that comes from the brotherhood we’ve formed. I called on some ATOs from all over the country over the past few days and it didn’t matter where they were from, they were all great people that you would want to spend time with. Then when you go to congress and you see 400 young men from all of our chapters, and they’re walking up there to get their awards. You say to yourself “It’s still happening.” ß P E Q: What’s your favorite menu item at Waffle House? A: Hash browns, cheese eggs, raisin toast, and bacon. And with the apple butter, you can’t beat that. Q: Why Life Loyal Tau? GA 16 AL LO YA L T A U A: ATO is a very important part of my life. My ATO experience changed my life for the better. And I will never forget that. It AT O PA L M SPRING 2008
