The men of Alpha Sigma helped supervise the inflatable games and run booths where the children could win prizes. PENN STATE >> Gamma Omega COMMUNITY SERVICE & PHILANTHROPY Theta Eta has won the fraternity division of intramurals for four straight years and they are well on their way to winning their fifth. The UNA Taus have already won two intramural division championships and hold a 2,000-point lead over the closest competitors. NORTH DAKOTA STATE >> Epsilon Delta COMMUNITY SERVICE & PHILANTHROPY For 13 straight years the Taus of Penn State’s Gamma Omega chapter have been the leading fund-raisers for the annual ‘THON’, a dance marathon that raises money to fight pediatric cancer. Along with the sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha, the chapter raised over $233,000 for the Four Diamond Fund of Penn State’s Children’s Hospital in Hershey, Penn. MARYLAND >> Epsilon Gamma COMMUNITY SERVICE & PHILANTHROPY The chapter recently completed its annual Freeze-a-thon. The chapter received over $7,000 in donations for the Nokomis Child Care Center by standing in the sub-freezing North Dakota elements for 120 straight hours. PEPPERDINE >> Kappa Epsilon SCHOLARSHIP On March 8, 2008 a group of Epsilon Gammas volunteered with SHARE. SHARE is an organization that packages food for families who cannot afford healthy meals. They packaged potatoes for the following week, when thousands of meals were put into the Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland areas. This has become a tradition with the Epsilon Gamma chapter and the chapter will have a banner placed on the walls of the SHARE facility displaying its official sponsorship of the SHARE Program. The chapter received top scholarship honors among fraternities on campus last fall with a 3.23 GPA. SOUTHERN ILLINOIS >> Theta Zeta COMMUNITY SERVICE & PHILANTHROPY The men of Theta Zeta started volunteering in their local “I Can Read” program helping underprivileged children in the Carbondale, Ill. area develop stronger reading skills. The Taus at SIU were featured in their school newspaper for their involvement. MERCER >> Alpha Zeta INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENT TEMPLE >> Iota Psi COMMUNITY SERVICE & PHILANTHROPY Stephen Dominy, Mercer ’06, was recently elected to serve as vice president of the Southeastern Interfraternity Conference. The SEIFC is entering its 42nd year of existence and continues to be an elite leadership training conference. NEBRASKA-KEARNEY >> Zeta Upsilon COMMUNITY SERVICE & PHILANTHROPY Iota Psi’s Annual Campout to End Homelessness raised over $1,500. The Taus camped out in the middle of campus for 30 straight hours and collected canned goods, clothes, and money to give to the Philadelphia Committee to End Homelessness. ß After a Nebraska-Kearney student died, the Taus of Zeta Upsilon held a pancake breakfast to raise money to help the grieving family cover funeral expenses. The chapter raised over $1,500. The men of Zeta Upsilon plan on making this an annual event and turning any future proceeds into a scholarship. 25 AT O . O RG
