Email to palmeditor@ato.org. >> The Illinois State Alumni Association and Theta Theta chapter held its 28th annual Founders Day event. Sixty alumni and parents attended the Founders Day Ceremony on February 23, 2008. The chapter presented Theta Theta Board of Trustees member Kevin Petschow, Culver Stockton-Illinois State ’78, with an award of appreciation for his years of service to the chapter. >> The Middle Tennessee State Alumni Association recently held a banquet to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the rechartering of the Eta Nu chapter. >> The Sam Houston State Alumni Association, along with the chapter and board of trustees, held a lodge dedication for the newly constructed ATO Lodge during the Founders Day banquet. The Zeta Mu Founders Day weekend started with a Golf Tournament and concluded with the dedication ceremony. >> The South Florida Eta Alpha Alumni Association held its third annual river trip on March 11, 2008. Eta Alpha alumni gathered to float eight miles down the Withlacoochee River in central Florida. Retirements & Promotions >> Peter Peterson, Northwestern ’48, recently retired from his post at the Blackstone Group. Peterson was a co-founder of the Blackstone Group and a former commerce secretary under the Nixon administration. Peterson recently formed the Peter G. Peterson Foundation to enhance public understanding of the nature and urgency of selected key sustainability challenges that threaten America’s future, to propose sensible and workable solutions to address these challenges and to build public will to Chapter Eternal >> Robert Samson, Beta Alpha ’33, died last winter. Brother Samson was former Province Chief of province XVIII. Samson served for three years under former National President Vann. Samson earned his MBA from the Harvard School of Business and earned his undergraduate degree from Simpson College where he later worked as head of the business administration and economics department. Samson also served as payroll auditor for the Republican National Committee during the 1940 campaign. do something about them. He is also currently in talks with HBO to create a feature length documentary about the poor state of America’s economy. ß Alumni Events >> A tree and bench on the Mount Union campus were dedicated in memory of John Frisina, Mount Union ’62. Nearly 100 people were in attendance for the dedication ceremony. Frisina was a decorated Vietnam Veteran. >> The Delta chapter recently held an alumni reunion that targeted chapter alumni of the 90s and 00s. The reunion featured a party mixer so that the alumni could get to know the active members, an active versus alumni football game, and a joint chapter meeting. The meeting took place in the University of Virginia chapel that was designed and built by one its former chaplains, Otis Allan Glazebrook. VMI 1865. AT O PA L M SPRING 2008 26
