Convention Keynoters
Association members once again will
welcome Wyoming's congressional delegation: Republican Senators Mike Enzi and
John Barrasso, along with Republican Representative Cynthia Lummis. "It is always
good to hear from this delegation," Hinchey
remarks. "They will provide updates about
the issues in Washington that affect all of
us."
In addition, Wyoming Governor Matt
Mead is invited to address the convention
regarding important state issues.
Dan Noble, director of the Wyoming Department of Revenue, and Mark Watson, supervisor of the Wyoming Oil & Gas Conservation Commission, also will speak to the
group, Hinchey says, adding, "These state
officials will bring us all up to date on news
from their agencies. We always are pleased
to hear from Governor Mead, and Dan and
Mark. Each brings a special expertise that
will help us understand the particulars of
what is happening at the state level."

Schedule Of Events
A fishing derby is set for Monday, Aug.
24, but the official convention agenda begins with a continental breakfast in the
Parkway Plaza Mallway at 7:30 a.m.
Tuesday, Aug. 25, Hinchey says. The trade
show opens at the same time. Concurrent
PAW committee meetings are scheduled
for 8 to 11:30 a.m., when a buffet luncheon begins.
The PAW PAC golf tournament will
tee off with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. at the
Casper Country Club. The chairman's reception and dinner begin at 6 p.m. at the
hotel, Hinchey says.
Wednesday morning activities also
get under way at 7:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast and the trade show,
Hinchey notes.
Concurrent seminars on the agenda
from 8 to 10 a.m. will offer information
from the Wyoming Departments of Revenue and Audit, Oil & Gas Conservation
Commission, and the PAW Public Lands
Committee, Hinchey outlines.
The 10 o'clock general session will include the PAW chairman's report from
Randy Harris, director of corporate development for Black Hills Exploration & Production in Denver, election of directors,
and reports from the congressional delegation. The buffet luncheon is set for noon
when Governor Mead will be the keynote
speaker. A Board of Directors meeting will
follow at 1:15 p.m.
PAW's annual meeting concludes with
a 6 p.m. barbecue at Crossroads Park,
sponsored by Tool Pushers Supply,
Hinchey comments, noting family members are welcome.
"We want to make it as easy as possi-

ble for our members to register for this important meeting," he emphasizes. "For example, weekly e-mails are sent out and our
website has an online registration form. We
are hoping for a good turnout at this

great educational and networking event."

Rocky Mountain Energy Summit
Aims To Be Thought Provoking
DENVER, CO.-Every year, the goal of
the Rocky Mountain Energy Summit is to
deliver thought-provoking content and
networking opportunities that stimulate a
productive, long-term conversation on
responsible oil and gas development. This
year's event will be no exception, asserts
Sarah Landry, chief operating officer of the
Colorado Oil & Gas Association, which
hosts the summit.
The conference and expo are set for
Aug. 24-27 at the Colorado Convention
Center in Denver. The theme, "The Global Energy Puzzle," will resonate throughout the educational sessions, keynote addresses and exhibition hall displays,
Landry promises.
"We aim to escape the echo chambers
and face the challenges and opportunities
within our industry," Landry comments.
"This will be done in a way that creates solutions, innovations and outcomes that positively affect the Rockies and the world for
years to come.
"As a result of the hydraulic fracturing
revolution," she continues, "world energy dynamics are changing rapidly. We
have seen the United States emerge as a
global energy powerhouse that impacts energy markets while pioneering technological advances and influencing geopolitical
outcomes."
During the summit, Landry notes, nationally recognized experts, elected officials, and leading thinkers will explore how
these dynamics and others have developed
and intertwined, while continuing to
evolve.
The Rocky Mountains are a "critical
and influential piece of the global energy
puzzle," Landry states. "Colorado has a
rich history of more than 150 years of oil
and gas development, and maintains a firm
position in the top 10 oil and gas producing states in the country.
"In many ways," she remarks, "the eyes
of the nation and the world are consistently on Colorado's oil and gas industry because of our unique perspective. We combine significant production, proactive
community engagement, regulatory innovation, and dynamic market changes."
For an optimistic view of the industry's
future, the bright spots and unanticipated

opportunities on the horizon will be addressed, Landry reports.
"There is still a growing global demand
for accessible energy from oil and gas resources," the COO observes. "Partner
this demand with the depressed price of
crude oil and the result is new operational
efficiencies and innovative technological
advances emerging as a counterweight.
"These remarkable improvements have
led to a better return of our natural resources from the ground, more cost-effective practices, and a continually decreasing environmental impact," she adds.

Summit Highlights
Many of these advances and the pioneering companies behind them will be discussed during the emerging technologies
half-day session on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Another conference highlight is a session featuring both of Colorado's U.S. senators: Democrat Michael Bennet and Republican Cory Gardner. "This is our popular annual unscripted session," Landry
notes. "Representing both sides of the aisle,
this senatorial dialogue will highlight
common ground on energy production and
policy."
Landry also emphasizes that summit attendees are encouraged to visit the exhibit hall.
"We have some absolutely fantastic exhibitors this year, including several startups showcasing some of the most cuttingedge innovations being used by the industry today," she lauds. "Our exhibitors are
industry leaders who are eager to find solutions, discuss their products, and share
information.
"The exhibit hall is the premier networking venue for anyone in the oil and
gas industry in Colorado," she elaborates. "It is the only place where you can
encounter a chief executive officer and a
U.S. senator, examine the latest technologies, and grab a cold beverage with
hundreds of your closest industry friends."
Global Perspective
The convention agenda tees off at 7
a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, with the energy
summit golf tournament at the award-winning Bear Dance Golf Club at Larkspur,
