New Valve Boosts Safety Of Deepwater Operations

HOUSTON-Baker Hughes Inc. has
released the DeepShieldTM deepwater
safety valve, which the company describes
as the first V1-validated subsurface safety
valve tested to help ensure fail-safe operations as defined in the new American
Petroleum Institute Specification 14A.
According to Baker Hughes, the
DeepShield valve is designed to close if
well control is lost-even in the presence
of debris buildup-establishing a reliable

safety barrier to help minimize the likelihood of reservoir fluids escaping the wellbore, and to prevent any resulting health,
safety and environmental impacts.
The valve's patented, redundant operating system enables it to function at extreme depths and pressures, Baker Hughes
says. Unlike conventional valves, the
company continues, the DeepShield can
be held open at lower pressures, reducing
infrastructure costs required to maintain
higher wellbore pressures during
operations.

FlexGen® Power Systems Gets $25.5 Million Boost

HOUSTON-FlexGen® Power Systems
has announced a $25.5 million Series A
financing round to accelerate deployment
of what it describes as its breakthrough
hybrid energy storage software into oil
field applications and power generation
markets worldwide.
Led by Denver-based venture investment firm, Altira Group, the round includes
major investments from the venture capital
arms of General Electric and Caterpillar.
FlexGen says its software improves the
performance and significantly lowers the
cost of a wide range of energy storage
technologies in utility, consumer and industrial power systems.

are merging state-of-the-art software and
power electronics," states FlexGen founder

and Chief Executive Officer Josh Prueher.

DALLAS-Through a subsidiary, EnLink Midstream Partners LP has acquired
gathering and processing assets in the
Delaware Basin from a subsidiary of
Matador Resources Co. for $143 million.
EnLink says the acquisition positions
it as a full-service midstream provider to
the Delaware Basin and complements
its crude oil gathering, transportation and
marketing services there. The company
notes it entered the basin when it acquired
LPC Crude Oil Marketing LLC in February.
The acquired system is in Loving
County, Tx., which EnLink says has
robust drilling activity, strong well results
and significant stacked pay potential.
The system's assets include a cryogenic
gas processing plant with an inlet capacity
of 35 million cubic feet a day, and six
miles of high-pressure gathering pipeline,
which connect a Matador-owned lowpressure gathering system to the processing plant.
Including the acquisition, EnLink indicates it plans to deploy $400 million$500 million to expand its position in the
Delaware Basin through early 2017. The
company says these expansions could include processing capacity additions, such
as installing a 120 MMcf/d natural gas
processing plant the company owns, as
well as new gathering lines in Loving and
Reeves counties in Texas, and in Eddy
and Lea counties in New Mexico.

Vallourec To Provide OCTG For Stampede Development
BOULOGNE-BILLANCOURT,
FRANCE-Vallourec has been selected
to deliver 14,000 tons of premium tubes
for Hess Corp.'s Stampede project in the
Gulf of Mexico. Stampede is a deepwater
subsea development in the Green Canyon
Block area, 115 miles south of Fourchon,

Ariel Passes Milestone With KBB-6 Compressor
MOUNT VERNON, OH.-Less than
a year shy of its 50th anniversary, Ariel
Corp. reports it has produced and shipped
its 50,000th compressor.
The company produced and shipped
its first compressor in 1968, after being
established two years earlier. In June
1978, compressor number 1,000 was
shipped, with number 10,000 coming in
1994.

EnLink Expands Foothold
In Delaware Basin Region

Ariel compressors are used all over
the world, but the company says number
50,000 is staying in Ohio. The KBB-6 is
headed to Wayne County, where it will
be installed with four other Ariel compressors as part of the 800-mile Rover
Pipeline system, which will move Marcellus
Shale gas from Pennsylvania and West
Virginia across Ohio into Michigan and
Canada.

La., Vallourec notes.
The company says it is providing 5,000
tons of oil country tubular goods for
critical deepwater development wells, including high-performance premium grades
from Europe and Ohio. Vallourec indicates
most of the pipe will be threaded at VAM
USA in Houston with VAM® SLIJIITM
and VAM® HPTM for a total of more than
12,000 premium connections.
The contract also covers 9,000 tons
of seamless steel line pipe for flowlines
and steel catenary risers (SCRs) that will
be installed in 3,500 feet of water, Vallourec continues. The company says the
products it provides will include SCR
pipes with very tight end tolerances and
optimal welding characteristics, key features that reduce both the cost and risk of
project execution.
