GE's Latest VGF Engines Offer Reliability, Flexibility

DALLAS-GE's Distributed Power
has unveiled its WaukeshaTM VGFTM
high-speed gas engine models, the first
to combine the company's compact gas
engine design with advanced controls
normally used in GE's larger Waukesha
units.
With advanced controls and aftertreatment capabilities as standard features,
the VGF units offer greater flexibility for
on-site power, air/gas compression and
drilling applications than is typical of engines in the 300-600 horsepower highspeed range, GE says. The controls and
emission reduction technologies come
from GE's larger Waukesha VHP engine,
which the company describes as the industry workhorse for gas compression
and oil field power generation.
The new VGF F18SE and VGF H24SE
models will be available with EPA nonroad

(mobile) certification for air quality, allowing the units to be deployed for mobile
applications, GE reports. The company
says the engines' certification also covers
certain stationary applications.
GE adds that the new models with the
emPact offering give packagers and endusers a "one-stop shop" for the engine,
controls, and aftertreatment system, eliminating the hassles and risks associated
with buying and integrating different suppliers' components.
The engines' top-end maintenance intervals have been extended 36 percent,
making them 50 percent longer than competing engines, GE says, adding that the
major overhaul interval is twice as long.
When internal components need to be
serviced, the company continues, the VGF
is the only engine in its class that offers
full access at the job site.
The new VGF F18SE and H24SE engines with advanced controls have been
deployed for a half dozen successful U.S.
demonstration projects, including stationary
gas compression and power generation as
well as mobile power generation and
air/gas compression, GE assures. The company says the engines will be commercially
available in the first quarter of 2016. ❒

With enhanced oil filtration and cooling,
GE's new WaukeshaTM VGFTM compact gas
engines can operate in high ambient temperatures. Their new turbocharger improves their effectiveness at higher
altitudes, the company adds.

U.S. Silica, BNSF Deliver 16,500 Tons Of Frac Sand

HOUSTON-U.S. Silica Holdings Inc.
says a record-breaking 150-unit train delivered 16,500 tons of its U.S. Silica
White® fracture sand from Ottawa, Il., to
a transload facility serving the Permian
Basin. The company says the BNSF Railroad train was the longest unit train of
sand ever delivered to a single destination
on a Class-1 railroad.
Although the U.S. land rig count has
declined during 2015, U.S. Silica Holdings
says large volumes of sand continue to
be required as completion designs for
wells demand increased volumes of sand
for each stage and more stages per well.
The company notes industry experts estimate sand usage per well increased by
26 percent from the third quarter of 2014

to the second quarter of 2015.
"Delivering sand by unit train is the
most cost-effective means of transport,
which is extremely important in today's
highly competitive marketplace," assesses
Don Weinheimer, vice president and general manager of oil and gas for U.S.

Summit ESP Completes
5,000th ESP Installation

TULSA-Summit ESP completed its
5,000th electric submersible pump installation during the third quarter of 2015
on a well for Denbury Resources, the
CHSU-ML 13-09SH in Bowman County,
N.D., at a setting depth of 8,400 feet.
Noting that it has been in business
only four and a half years, Summit describes the achievement as an ongoing
reflection of the trust customers have in
the company's products and services.
In its short life, the company relates,
Summit has transformed from a few people
at a single location to 500 employees at 23
service and sales locations throughout the
oil producing areas of the United States
and Canada. The company says it has become the second-largest supplier of downhole ESP systems in the United States.

Rimrock Resource Gets
$75 Million Commitment

HOUSTON-Post Oak Energy Capital
and Ceja Corp. have announced a $75
million capital commitment to Rimrock
Resource Partners LLC. Rimrock's management team will co-invest alongside
Post Oak and Ceja.
Rimrock was formed in 2015 as a
Tulsa-based exploration and production
company. In partnership with Post Oak
and Ceja, the companies say, Rimrock
will focus on exploration, acquisition and
development opportunities, primarily in
the Mid-Continent region.
"The Rimrock team, led by Burt
Williams and Mike Evans, is a very experienced, regionally focused management
team," comments Frost Cochran, managing
director of Post Oak. "We look forward
to partnering with such a high-quality
team, which initially will target the Woodford Shale, one of the most economically
