agency, hopefully there will be some
good news on the midstream front that
indicate some help for natural gas pricing,"
he says.
On the political front, OOGA will be
hearing from David Wasserman, a political
analyst for the Cook Political Report,
Bennett says. With the winter meeting
taking place a few weeks after the flood
of state primaries called Super Tuesday,
he says attendees will get fresh information on the shape of the 2016 general
election.
In addition to the usual regulatory and
legislative updates, Bennett indicates the

2016 winter meeting will bring in speakers
to discuss mergers and acquisitions, as
well as a Marcellus Shale production
analysis and several presentations aiming
at conventional operators. "The great
thing about the winter meeting is OOGA
strives to find a good balance between
large shale operators and conventional
operators. Both types of development are
essential to the economy of Ohio and the
life of Ohio's oil and gas industry,"
Bennett says.
According to Hill, initially he was
concerned about attendance at the 2015
winter meeting because commodity prices
already had begun to decline, but he was

pleasantly surprised by the turnout.
"My theory is everyone wanted to
get a feel for what everyone else was
thinking about the markets," he says. "I
think the same thing will happen this
year. People are going to want to know
where we are headed and when we might
expect some relief. The Ohio Oil & Gas
Association winter meeting is a wonderful
networking opportunity. In my opinion,
the association brings in first-class speakers addressing a broad range of topics.
The membership will get a good exposure
to what is going on in the United States
and in some cases from around the
world."

Midstream Gets Ready For Future Gas
COLUMBUS, OH.-Low commodity
prices are a burden on the world's natural
gas producers, but Shawn Bennett, executive vice president of the Ohio Oil &
Gas Association, insists that although infrastructure constraints have added to
that load, the midstream sector is preparing
to handle future production from the Marcellus and Utica plays.
"OOGA members who are selling natural gas are unable to get their gas out of

the basin," Bennett characterizes. "While
natural gas is low nationwide, Ohio companies are getting about $1 less an Mcf
here in the Appalachian Basin. OOGA
member companies really need new
pipelines so they can get a fair market
price for their gas. Several pipeline projects
will be coming on line in the next several
years, but we are not there yet."
He says the Appalachian producing
community typically must sell its gas at

prices below those posted at Henry Hub,
pointing in particular to prices at Dominion
South Point, the main pricing point for
the Marcellus Shale play.
David Hill, OOGA president and owner/operator of David R. Hill Inc. in
Byesville, Oh., says oil and gas producers
have wondered since the downturn's beginning about the eventual recovery and
whether it will prove to be a gradual, Ushaped market or the sharp jump of a V-
