Anadarko To Buy Assets From Freeport-McMoRan
HOUSTON-Anadarko Petroleum Corp.
has entered into a definitive agreement to
acquire the deepwater Gulf of Mexico
assets of Freeport-McMoRan Oil & Gas
Inc. for $2 billion.
"This immediately accretive, bolt-on
transaction strengthens our industry-leading
position in the Gulf of Mexico, and is a
catalyst for the company's oil-growth objectives, with quality assets being acquired
at an attractive price to create significant
value," says Anadarko Chairman, President
and Chief Executive Officer Al Walker.
"We expect these acquired assets to generate
substantial free cash flow, enhancing our
ability to increase U.S. onshore activity in
the Delaware and Denver-Julesburg basins.
"Additionally, the transaction expands

Anadarko's infrastructure in the Gulf, adds
to our unmatched inventory of low-cost,
subsea tieback opportunities, and bolsters
optionality with new exploration prospects,"
Walker continues.
He says the transaction brings the company's net sales volume in the Gulf of
Mexico to 155,000 barrels of oil equivalent
a day, with 85 percent of that being oil.
The transaction doubles Anadarko's
working interest in the Lucius facility from
24 percent to 49 percent, Anadarko reports,
noting it operates the deepwater Gulf facility.
The company adds that the transaction,
which is expected to close by year-end, will
increase its net daily production by 80,000
boe, more than 80 percent of which is oil.

The company adds that it has secured

CGG Delivers RTM Data
On Mexican Side of Gulf
PARIS-CGG has delivered the Fast
TraxTM reverse time migration data from
its Encontrado multiclient megamerge project covering the Perdido Fold Belt on time
and ahead of Mexico's December licensing
round. The company indicates final images
will be available in summer 2017.
CGG says the Encontrado reprocessing
project merges 23,612 square miles of
wide-azimuth data from nine processed
surveys, covering some of the most prospective areas of the Gulf of Mexico, including
the Great White and Trion discoveries to
the north and Corfu and Ixcuta further
south.
According to CGG, the data are being
processed through an advanced, high-end
sequence, including bandwidth extension
and 3-D deghosting, 3-D surface-related
multiple elimination, and advanced imaging
using tilted transverse isotropic reverse
time migration and Kirchhoff migrations.
Tomography and full-waveform inversion
are being used to enhance the velocity
model, the company adds.
