To Employ AASPI Research
DALLAS-The Attribute Assisted Seismic Processing & Interpretation (AASPI)
Consortium at the University of Oklahoma
has signed a cooperative agreement with
Geophysical Insights.
The organizations say the initiative is
designed to make the AASPI Consortium's
research results available to more interpreters
across the oil and gas industry. Under the
agreement, they report, Geophysical Insights
will license AASPI seismic analysis software
technology and incorporate it into its commercial Paradise software platform.
"Under the leadership of (Kurt Marfurt,
principal investigator at the AASPI Consortium), the researchers at the AASPI
Consortium are generating world-class
seismic analysis technology, even better
than many commercial products on the
market. This is particularly true of their
large library of robust geometric seismic
attributes," praises Tom Smith, Geophysical
Insights' president and chief executive officer. "Adding AASPI Consortium technology to Paradise will place more powerful
tools in the hands of interpreters."
Smith says the first application of AASPI
technology in Paradise will be an expanded
library of geometric attributes in the Paradise
attribute generator.

Energy Navigator Expands
In Houston To Serve Clients
HOUSTON-To support its growing
client base of oil and gas producers, independent reserves evaluators, brokerage
firms, banks and financial institutions, Energy Navigator says it has expanded and
relocated its Houston office. The new location, at One Briarlake Plaza, 2000 W.
Sam Houston Pkwy South, Suite 1475, includes on-site user training and lecture facilities, the company mentions.

provide more readily available support to

New Schlumberger Service Gets More From Well Tests
DUBAI-Schlumberger has released
its GeoTesting geology-based well test
design and interpretation services.
The company says the services, built
in the Petrel software platform, maximize
the value of well tests by integrating geological and geophysical models with dynamic well test data in a shared earth
model, providing more accurate interpretation than conventional analysis limited
to geometrical models.
"GeoTesting services bring a new level
of certainty to reservoir characterization
with optimized well test designs that validate and calibrate reservoir models using
dynamic measurements," says Wallace
Pescarini, Schlumberger's president of
testing services. "With high-quality data
and analysis representative of the reservoir,
customers can improve production fore-

casting vastly, determine reservoir connectivity, and identify sweet spots."
The Petrel GeoTesting plug-in features
global sensitivity analysis designed for
targeting geological features of interest
and incorporating uncertainty in the geological model during well test design and
execution, Schlumberger reports. According
to the company, this maximizes confidence
in the data while minimizing test duration
and cost.
The company adds that new grid-based
inversion technology automatically calibrates reservoir models with dynamic
well test data for direct integration into
the reservoir model, enabling more accurate
reservoir characterization. The naturally
fractured reservoir pressure transient simulator provides new insight into the complex behavior of transients and the
matrix/fracture interaction, which

Latest GeoTeric® Release Combines Speed, Power
HOUSTON-With the release of GeoTeric® 2016.2, GeoTeric says it is taking
the software's high performance and easeof-use a step further while extending interpretation functions and improving metrics reporting.
The release enables simultaneous display of as many as three logs for each
well, which the company says creates a
fully integrated well-log data and seismic
attribute 3-D interpretation environment.
The extended editing and transfer of fault
sticks and surfaces allows users to better
integrate accurate structural interpretations
into the full GeoTeric workflow, the company continues.
In addition, GeoTeric reports, the example-driven expression tools work as
much as six times faster than previous iterations. This improved performance allows the interpreter to make decisions
more quickly and employ the example-

driven interface in the most effective way
to accurately optimize attribute parameters
the first time around, the company says.
"The speed improvements in the unique
expression tools ensure interactive performance with big data, and the new well
format enables even more effective integration of large amounts of well data,"
says Gaynor Paton, the company's director
of geosciences.
