IHS Markit Forms Alliance With Baker Hughes, CMG

provider IHS Markit announces it has
formed a technology alliance with Baker
Hughes Inc. and software company Computer Modelling Group Ltd. to deliver a
new level of geoscience analytics and
engineering solutions for exploration,
drilling and production companies.
The partnership will provide integrated
workflows by leveraging industry-leading
software for geological characterization,
reservoir modeling, production data analysis
and reservoir flow simulation, IHS Markit
describes. According to the company, one
immediate benefit to customers will be development of collaborative geoscience,
reservoir modeling and simulation workflows
that use IHS Markit Kingdom®, Baker
Hughes' JewelSuite™ reservoir modeling
software, and CMG's simulation software

to deliver new levels of insight and efficiency
for integrated geoscience analytics.
Russell Roundtree, vice president of
geoscience and engineering for IHS Markit, says customers want options rather
than closed systems. "By integrating technology, driving workflow improvements
and augmenting collaboration across vendors, we will expand our clients' ability
to be agile in the face of the industry's
rapid changes," he comments.

MSC Works With Pioneer To Reﬁne Drilling Software

NEWPORT BEACH, CA.-MSC Software Corp. is partnering with Pioneer Natural Resources to configure its Adams
platform to simulate drilling operations,
dynamics and dysfunctions. The application
allows users to vary the drill string components, operating parameters, wellbore
geometry, lithography and control algorithms being used to understand their effect
on drilling dynamics, the companies say.
MSC reports it is customizing its
Adams software, which has a track record
of modeling dynamic physics for engineers
in the automotive and aerospace industries,
to fit the needs of the oil and gas industry.
Pioneer is helping MSC refine and validate
the software by gathering real-world data
using recording subs placed through the
drill string in different well configurations.
The data provide ground truth measurements the simulation results can be compared with to verify the models' accuracy
and improve them as needed.

HOUSTON-Geophysical Insights announces that the latest release of Paradise®,
a multiattribute seismic analysis platform
that uses machine learning to extract
