Staghorn Picks Quorum Land Management Suite
HOUSTON-Staghorn Petroleum LLC,
a portfolio company of EnCap Investments
LP., has become the first oil and gas
company to implement the latest release
of myQuorum Land on Demand software,
Quorum relates.
Through cloud technology, Staghorn
was able to onboard the myQuorum Land
On Demand system within days, Quorum
says.

Halliburton, Microsoft Ally To Advance Cloud Tools

HOUSTON-Microsoft and Halliburton
have revealed plans to enter into a strategic
alliance to drive digital transformation
across the oil and gas industry.
"Halliburton is focused on delivering
intelligent cloud solutions to drive the next
generation of efficient oil and gas exploration
and production," says Jason Zander, corporate vice president of Microsoft Azure.
"We are excited to bring the power of
Azure's hyperscale, hybrid and global cloud
platform technologies to this alliance to
enhance the value chain for our mutual
customers."
The companies say their researchers
and engineers will leverage and optimize
Microsoft technologies in machine learning,
augmented reality, user interactions and
the internet of things, as well as Azure's
high-performance infrastructure and builtin computing capabilities, to deliver tightly
integrated solutions across the energy
value chain. Areas of collaboration include
applying deep learning to reservoir characterization, modeling and simulation,
building domain-specific visualization for
mixed reality, creating highly interactive
applications and digitizing upstream assets,
Halliburton details.
As a first step in the alliance, Halliburton
announces it has made DecisionSpace®
365 available on Azure, enabling realtime data streaming from IoT-edge devices
in oil fields and the ability to apply deeplearning models to optimize drilling and
production and lower costs. The company
says with DecisionSpace on Azure, predictive deep-learning algorithms will help
optimize field assets and enable next-generation exploration and deep-earth models

by using software to fill gaps in sensor
data, while reducing the number of steps
and time required to render models.

Royale Plans Three Wells
In Historic California Field

SAN DIEGO-Royale Energy Inc. has
signed a drilling contract for three additional wells in Rio Vista Field in the
Sacramento Basin. The company says
the CRC 8-3, CRC 8-4 and CRC 8-5
wells will be drilled under Royale's joint
venture agreement covering the field.
According to the company, Royale
and its partner used 3-D seismic to identify
several prospective locations in the Martinez, McCormick and Capay formations.
In 2016, Royale successfully completed
three wells. The company says those
wells are producing more than 1,500 Mcf
a day.
"We are excited to begin our 2017
drilling campaign in the Rio Vista Field,"
says Don Hosmer, Royale's president.
"With natural gas prices continuing to
stabilize and strengthen, we believe our
Rio Vista development program will provide an excellent return for our shareholders and drilling investors."

New Service Offers Way To Validate Frac Designs

AUSTIN, TX.-By commercializing
IMAGE Frac™ 2.0, Reveal Energy Services says it is giving operators access to
pressure-based fracture maps that validate
completion designs on every well with
minimum operational risk and cost.
IMAGE Frac technology offers a new
approach to mapping hydraulic fractures,
enabling operators to work with factory
mode consistency to confirm whether a
stimulation treatment is producing the
planned fracture dimensions, Reveal says.
The technology uses precise surface pressure
data recorded during hydraulic fracturing,
meaning work proceeds normally without
a downhole tool, downtime, or additional
crew, the company adds. It reports the
service has been field proven in 1,200
stages in six U.S. unconventional basins.
According to Reveal, IMAGE Frac
2.0 includes five new services:
* FracSCAN, which quantifies 3-D
fracture maps of half-length, height, and
asymmetry, enabling operators to im-

prove treatment designs, make lateral
spacing decisions, and understand stress
shadowing effects;
* ProppantSCAN, which offers insight
into the fluid system and pump schedule
for transporting proppant so operators
can optimize effective reservoir contact;
* PerfSCAN, which shows how pump
rates affect fluid distribution within a stage;
* DiverterSCAN, which lets the operator know whether a diverter is slowing
or stopping primary fracture growth and
enhancing fluid distribution within a
stage; and
* DepletionSCAN, which identifies
the depletion boundary surrounding a
parent well so operators can reduce nonproductive fluid losses to improve treatment effectiveness.
