Compact Multiphase Meter Minimizes Well Pad Costs
STAVANGER, NORWAY-Emerson
now offers a smaller version of its Roxar
Multiphase Flow Meter (MPFM) 2600.
The compact flow meter is cost-effective
and modular, the company says, adding
that it addresses the flow profiles of
North American shale fields, and is
suitable for a well's lifetime.
By switching from one separator to
one Roxar multiphase meter for each
well, Emerson says operators can reduce
capital investments at the well pad by
50 percent. According to the company,
the meter's other benefits include more
accurate well allocation, a smaller well
pad footprint, and reduced environmental
exposure as tanks are pushed down
stream to central facilities, where they
can be monitored more efficiently.
The compact MPFM 2600 enables
shale operators to monitor flow from
the well stream continuously and in

real time, Emerson says. The company
adds that the new operator interface
streamlines installation and commissioning, and provides improved graphical
views for trending, visualizing well data
or configuring the meter.

Emerson says its new compact Roxar Multiphase Flow Meter 2600 generates accurate
ﬂow rate and ﬂuid information in unconventional wells that have artiﬁcial lift, high gas
fractions or water cuts, unpredictable ﬂow
regimes and low operating pressures. The
unit has an internal diameter of 1.38 inches.

EcoStim Begins Work For
Oklahoma Operator
HOUSTON-EcoStim Energy Solutions
Inc. has begun work under its second customer contract operating out of its Fairview,
Ok., base. The contract is with an Oklahoma-based exploration and production
company operating in the STACK play.
Barry Ekstrand, EcoStim's chief operating officer, says, "This is another very
significant milestone for the company, as
we now have successfully expanded our
operations in North-Central Oklahoma
with a second high-quality customer. We
signed this contract in late July and in less
than three months have mobilized the
needed personnel, equipment and supplies
to commence work under the contract."
In other news, EcoStim hired Jim Irsik
as its vice president of operations for the
Mid-Continent. The company says Irsik
has 35 years of experience managing operations and sales at oil field service
companies, including the Western Company, BJ Services and Weatherford.

Weatherford Releases
Retrievable Well Barrier
HOUSTON-Weatherford International
PLC has commercially released the ISO
Extreme retrievable well barrier, which
the company says it qualified to ISO 14310
V0 standards for gas-tight isolation.
According to Weatherford, the barrier
has a large operational envelope, and is capable of withstanding pressure differentials
as high as 10,000 psi and temperatures between 40 degrees and 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
ISO Extreme well barriers are available for
tubing sizes from 3.5 inches to 7.0 inches.
Unlike comparable technologies available for the high-pressure, high-temperature market, Weatherford says the ISO
Extreme doesn't require any nipple profiles
and is retrieved by first shifting down to
equalize pressures then jarring up to release. The company says this safety
feature reduces the risk of trapped pressure
below the plug prior to releasing.

barrier to our industry-leading portfolio
of wellbore isolation technologies," says
Mark Hopmann, vice president of completions at Weatherford.

Shale Support To Work With Tidewater Logistics
HOUSTON-Shale Support Holdings
LLC, a provider of fracture sands and logistical solutions to the oil and natural
gas proppant market, is partnering with
Tidewater Logistics. Under the agreement
Shale Support will increase its access in
the Ohio, West Virginia and western Pennsylvania markets, providing storage while
allowing it to be one of the lowest cost
providers of frac sand to the region, the
company says.
Shale Support's operations are based
in Mississippi, providing the company a
logistical advantage in being able to originate and terminate traffic on a single rail
line for delivery into the Marcellus and
Utica shale plays. According to the company, in September it began shipping its
products through 80- to 100-car unit trains
with a transit time shorter than four days
from mine to transload terminal.
