The American Oil & Gas Reporter was founded on
one key principal: Trust. Sixty years ago this
month, founder Charles W. "Cookie" Cookson
published the first issue. It would be forever based
on his World War II military career as a regimental
adjutant, in which he carried messages between his
colonel and company and battalion commanders.
It was crucial not to interject his thinking or observations into those
communications. That is our mantra to this day. Oil and gas executives need
to know what their peers are thinking and doing, and how business, financial
and technical trends can affect their welfare. That is why we deliver all
communications without commentary, and with cover-to-cover author and
source approval of the published articles. As you can see, this issue is a horse
of a different color, adding forward-looking insight about America's bright
future to the monthly news and reports, all the while staying true to that
