Dow Microbial Introduces
Cold-Weather Biocides

CORTEC reports it has received a safety integrity level (SIL) certiﬁcation on its "CRV"
series pressure relief valves, and "D" and "LD" series trunnion ball valves. The SIL
certiﬁcation quantiﬁes the reduced likelihood of a hazardous event occurring and conveys
that an independent third party has reviewed the safety of the products' design and
function, CORTEC says. "The SIL certiﬁcation qualiﬁes our products for new applications
and provides a high level of assurance that users are working with equipment that can be

BHGE's Subsea Connect Speeds Offshore Projects
HOUSTON-Baker Hughes, a GE company, has unveiled Subsea Connect, its
new approach to subsea development.
By combining planning and risk management, new modular deepwater technology, innovative partnerships and digital
tools into a single offering, the company
says, Subsea Connect can reduce the economic development point of subsea projects by an average of 30 percent. This
has the potential to unlock an additional
16 billion barrels of reserves globally,
BHGE estimates.
According to the company, Subsea
Connect has four components:
· Project Connect is a workflow for
project assessment and management that
eliminates project recycle, reduces costs
and overruns, and increases speed to a
final investment decision.
· Reservoir to topsides technology
solutions go beyond the subsea scope
and include reservoir management, field
development, well construction, topsides
optimization, and subsea development.
· Flexible partnerships and commercial models are aligned with customer
priorities.
· Next-generation digital solutions are
designed to boost productivity and uptime.

WILMINGTON, DE.-To meet the
need for hydraulic fracturing biocides
that work in cold weather, Dow Microbial
Control, a business unit of DowDuPont
Specialty Products, has launched AQUCAR™ 7140 LT and AQUCAR™ TN
250 LT water treatment microbiocides.
"Our new biocides-winterized with
methanol-help operators extend microbial
control down to -40 degrees Fahrenheit
with a host of additional benefits," says Joe
Ferrara, global industry leader for energy
and water at DuPont Industrial Biosciences.
Dow Microbial Control says AQUCAR
7140 LT is a blend of glutaraldehyde and
ADBAC that is highly effective in controlling problematic microorganisms over a
broad temperature and pH range. It is compatible with most fracturing fluid additives,
and is effective in controlling slime-forming
and sulfate-reducing varieties of bacteria.
AQUCAR TN 250 LT, the company
continues, is an anti-microbial agent designed to control bacteria under reservoir
conditions for months. When co-dosed
with glutaraldehyde or DBNPA, Dow
Microbial Control says, the solution provides excellent compatibility with hightemperature, high-salinity frac fluid additives and subsurface rock matrices, and
helps minimize and delay the impact of
souring, microbial-induced corrosion, biofouling and plugging. It also helps reduce
amounts of contaminated flowback and
produced water.

PDC Bit Manufacturer Acquired By Blackstone
NEW YORK-In a transaction expected
to close by year-end, Blackstone Energy
Partners says it has entered into binding
agreements to acquire a controlling, majority interest in Ulterra Drilling Technologies from affiliates of American Securities LLC.
Blackstone describes Ulterra as the
largest pure-play, independent supplier
of polycrystalline diamond compact drill
bits to the oil and gas industry. Having
more than doubled total revenue since
2016, Blackstone says, Ulterra is one of
the fastest growing PDC bit manufacturers,
and has a leading position in many of the
most active U.S. onshore oil and gas
basins.

Members of Ulterra's management
team will continue in their current roles,
Blackstone mentions, including Chief
Executive Officer John Clunan, who says,
"We are very excited about having Blackstone as a partner as we enter the next
