THE 2007 SAFETY AND PHILANTHROPY REPORT AOPA AIR SAFETY FOUNDATION: DONOR SOCIETIES AOPA’s Top Philanthropists (ATPs) $10,000 (annual gift) AOPA’s Top Philanthropists—affectionately known as “ATPs”—are donors who contribute $10,000 or more in a calendar year. ATP donors may designate their gift to a specific area, to help fund a new initiative, or for the general good of air safety and education. ATPs are invited to special AOPA and AOPA Air Safety Foundation educational and social events during the year. AOPA Air Safety Foundation is a tax-deductible, education charity. funds reach $50,000, $75,000, and $100,000 respectively. Donors are invited to special AOPA and AOPA Air Safety Foundation educational and social events during the year. AOPA Hat in the Ring Society $1,000+ (annual contribution) The AOPA Hat in the Ring Society is now in its seventeenth year of GA leadership. Renew or join today and share the heritage of the famed Hat in the Ring Squadron. Named for the World War I fighter squadron led by the legendary ace Captain Eddie Rickenbacker, this society recognizes members who “throw their hats in the ring” with financial support of $1,000 or more in a calendar year. Bronze level membership starts at $2,500 and the Silver level at $5,000. Society members are invited to special AOPA and AOPA Air Safety Foundation educational and social events during the year. The AOPA President’s Council $50,000 (multi-year commitment) The AOPA President’s Council is GA’s most prestigious philanthropic cadre. Membership is extended with a pledge of $50,000 or more, to be completed within five years. In addition to educational and social events, President’s Council members meet annually in a private dinner with the AOPA president and senior leadership. President’s Council members exclusively receive advanced and insider communication through the president’s “Hangar Talk” blog. AOPA Life Membership $2,500 (one-time gift) There are now more than 1,000 Life Members of AOPA. Offered exclusively by the AOPA Air Safety Foundation, the AOPA Life Membership is available for a one-time donation of $2,500, of which 80 percent is tax-deductible. New Life Members receive a hand-signed framed certificate from AOPA President Phil Boyer, along with a distinguished AOPA Life Member pin. The AOPA Air Safety Foundation Endowment Fund $10,000 (cummulative giving) Endowments perpetually honor the name of the donor or their designee. Gifts to the Endowment Fund provide permanent income for safety education programs. You may establish your donor-named fund with cumulative endowment donations totaling $10,000.
