GET THE BIG PICTURE-
THE AVIATION WEATHER CAMERA WEBSITE
The AVCamsPlus upgrade to the Aviation Weather Camera
website provides a comprehensive weather self-briefing
and go/no-go decision-making tool for flight routes. Near
real-time aviation weather camera images combined with
aviation weather data, aeronautical charts, and notams
provide a complete set of weather and flight-planning data.
The AVCamsPlus design is a result of collaboration between
the Aviation Weather Camera Program, the Civil Aerospace
Medical Institute (CAMI), and Alaska Flight Services.

HAVE A PILOT REPORT? SUBMIT IT ELECTRONICALLY
The FAA's new, electronic pilot report tool on the National
Weather Service's Aviation Weather Center Digital Data
Service website allows registered users to electronically
submit turbulence and icing reports. These are instantly
displayed in graphical form and distributed nationwide.

AOPA AND NTSB MEET ON AVIATION SAFETY
The National Transportation Safety Board recently visited
with AOPA and the Air Safety Institute. NTSB staff were
briefed on AOPA initiatives, including ASI's work to serve as
the leading influence in pursuit of a world without fatal GA
accidents. The NTSB will participate in periodic meetings
with AOPA and other aviation organizations in a joint effort
to improve aviation safety.

ACS UPDATES PUBLISHED IN JUNE
The FAA has published updates to the Airman
Certification Standards (ACS) on its Airman Testing
website. These updates affect the Private Pilot
Airplane certificate and the Instrument-Airplane
rating, and include the first ACS for the Commercial
Pilot Airplane certificate.

GET YOUR IFR CLEARANCE BY PHONE
Pilots can obtain IFR clearances directly from certain
terminal facilities. The April 27 U.S. Chart Supplement
includes clearance delivery phone numbers for 30
facilities. Twelve will install a separate IFR cancellation
line. More numbers will be published once they are

* CE-17-12: (5/11/17) Advises of the potential for loose elevator attach bolts on certain
Cessna 150/152 models. The SAIB is based on a service difficulty report of an elevator
hinge bolt backing out on a C150. The FAA recommends performing inspections detailed
in the Cessna supplemental inspection document (SID) 55-10-01.

of engine kickback and recommended engine inspections of Continental Motors, Inc.,
550 and 520 series reciprocating engines.
