Not only is it discouraging to do the same

breathtaking landscapes like plateaus.
While on vacation, plateaus are beautiful. But
in the flight training environment, they're an
entirely different story.
Learning plateaus occur when the progress
that has been achieved in learning levels off,

The frustration is felt by both the CFI and

Students feel frustrated because they think
they'll never understand or master the task at
hand. Seventy to eighty percent of people who

As flight instructors it's our responsibility to

the good news is there are ways to deal with
learning plateaus.
First of all, put yourself in the student's position
and remember your own training days. Plateaus
happen to every student and if you can relay
some of your personal experience to your student
it may help him or her see how you dealt with
it. In fact, even better-since you know they're
common, tell your students about it before it
happens. The more they're prepared for the
difficult times the better equipped and mentally
prepared they will be to get through them.
