Our Mission to Serve
Our mission is to advance the creation, communication, and application of
psychological knowledge to benefit society and improve people's lives.
APA supports the broad spectrum of member interests, including the areas of
science, practice, education, health, and human welfare.
Advancing the Science of Psychology
APA has a strong commitment to promoting research
funding and the dissemination of psychological science
scholarship. We seek to advance the visibility and influence
of psychological science by working closely with federal
policymakers, collaborating with other scientific societies,
and reaching out to the public. APA supports the scientific
community through advocacy work; the development of
workshops, conferences, and career advancement activities; the recognition of excellence and achievements in
the science of psychology; and the provision of advanced
training, networking opportunities, outreach programs, and
resources for researchers.

and training of psychologists, the teaching of psychology,
and the application of psychology to schools and education.

psychology education, sponsors an annual forum on education, and fosters collaborations that focus on the application
of psychology in schools.
