Personalities n Christiane Brems, PhD, is the new dean of Pacific University Oregon School of Professional Psychology. Since 1989, Brems has been a professor in the department of psychology, University of Alaska Brems Anchorage, program director for the PhD program in clinical-community psychology, and director of the university’s Center for Behavioral Health Research and Services. n Wayne Holden, PhD, is now president and chief executive officer of The Research Triangle Institute. He has been executive vice president of Social, Statistical and Environmental Sciences since 2005. n The Southern Arizona Psychological Association has elected Holly Jindrick, PsyD, as its 2012 president. Jindrick has been manager of the psychology department of Sierra Tucson Treatment Center since 2010. n Robert Neimeyer, PhD, has received the Apex Award for Publication Excellence for his interactive video presentation “Grief Therapy and the Reconstruction of Meaning,” which described the wide range of ways in which loss disrupts everyday life. Neimeyer is a psychology professor at the University of Memphis. n The State of Maryland has inducted Burnice “Bunny” Sandler, PhD, into its Women’s Hall of Fame. Sandler, a senior scholar at the Women’s Research and Education Institute in Washington, D.C., played an integral part in the creation and passage of Title IX and other laws prohibiting sexual discrimination in education. She filed 250 lawsuits in the 1970s, when there were no laws prohibiting sex discrimination in education. —C. BOCKHAUS APA announces international congress grantees APA is sending 21 psychologists and graduate students to the 30th International Congress of Psychology in Cape Town, South Africa, July 22–27 through the APA-United States National Committee Travel and Mentoring Program. Students and early career psychologist winners receive up to $1,500 for travel expenses and mid career winners receive $1,000.
