APMAPAC Update APMAPAC Champions: Lee Rogers, DPM, and Brad Wenstrup, DPM A Dream Come True…DPM Elected to Congress You can make this dream come true! This is an unusual time in the history of America and our profession. Despite all the bickering and partisan politics in Washington, DC, the financial crisis, the looming cuts to Medicare, the unsolved SGR problem, the failure of the Supercommittee, and the Affordable Care Act going to the US Supreme Court, we have an excellent chance to elect our first podiatrist to the US Congress. In the history of podiatric medicine, we have never had Lee Rogers, DPM a DPM in either the House or Senate. Only once before in our profession’s history has a DPM ever run for Congress, and now we have the opportunity to elect two podiatrists to Congress. We, as a profession, have an obligation to support Lee Rogers, DPM, and Brad Wenstrup, DPM. Dr. Rogers is running in the 25th congressional district in Los Angeles. He is well known as an author and leader in the profession and the even larger diabetic research community. He has received the prestigious APMA Rising Star Award and several awards for his research. He recently completed a term as chair of the Foot Care Council for the American Diabetes Association. He is running as a Democrat in a primary set for May 2012. Visit his website at www. He is running against an incumbent from the same political party. Dr. Wenstrup leads by example; he was awarded the prestigious Bronze Star and Combat Action Badge for his leadership and service to his country as a combat surgeon and chief of surgery with the 344th Combat Support Hospital in Iraq. He lectures nationally and is in private practice in Cincinnati. He is running as a conservative Republican in a primary set for May 2012.
