ision 2015 sets as one of its priorities to “Attract high-quality applicants to colleges of podiatric medicine and thereby to the profession.” In the early 2000s, the podiatric medical profession and APMA, in particular, began to place a new emphasis on student recruitment and expanding the applicant pool for the colleges of podiatric medicine. In the ensuing years, the profession increasingly was able to attract the best and brightest potential students to podiatric medicine through a group of applicants that more than doubled over eight years. In January, the Vision 2015 Committee played host to a

wide variety of stakeholders, including the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine, American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics and Primary Podiatric Medicine, American Board of Podiatric Surgery, American College of Foot & Ankle Orthopedics & Medicine, American Society of Podiatric Executives, American Society of Podiatric Surgeons, Council of Teaching Hospitals, Council on Podiatric Medical Education, podiatric medical colleges, state components, and more, for a day-long discussion of “New Ideas for Student Recruitment.” Stay tuned to your March issue of APMA News for outcomes from the student recruitment forum. n
